IPL Photofacials for Beautiful Skin
- Posted on: Nov 15 2018
There are some skin conditions that are more stubborn than others. If you suffer from skin damage like acne scars, sun spots, or texture issues, you may be tempted to concede defeat. Products and treatments often promise miracles, but leave you feeling shortchanged.
Chances are, you haven’t tried IPL treatments, though. This amazing procedure is similar to laser treatments and we’ve seen a lot of dramatic results in conditions that are often thought of as too stubborn for the average treatment. Keep reading to learn about IPL treatments and how we can help your skin recover from damage.
What is IPL?
IPL is short for Intense Pulsed Light, and this treatment is also called broadband light (BBL), photorejuvenation, or photofacial. Similar to a laser, IPL offers great results but is different from other treatments. IPL treatments are able to vary the wavelengths of light they use, so they can treat a myriad of issues (instead of laser treatments, which often only useful in treating one or two specific conditions). For example, IPL can be used to treat rosacea, acne scars, freckles, and even remove unwanted hair.
Who is a good candidate?
Those who suffer from the following are good candidates for IPL treatments.
- Brown and Red Spots
- Spider Veins
- Sun Damage
- Pigment Issues
Keep in mind that IPL treatments work best on certain skin tones. If you have darker skin IPL treatments may not provide the best results, and may not be recommended for you. Due to the nature of IPL, results are best in patients with lighter skin. For patients with darker skin, we have other treatments we offer to help your skin.
How long will results last?
IPL photofacial results compound over time, so if you have an event you’re getting ready for, you may want to choose another treatment for immediate beautifying. Your IPL results are generally best a few months after your last treatment, but the investment in time is worth it! Taking care of your skin by wearing sunscreen can boost your results and prolong them as well. Generally, we recommend one treatment to maintain your results, about a year after your series.
