Laser Hair Removal in Gilbert, AZ

What is Laser Hair Removal?

The next-generation of laser hair removal is Pain-Free, Hair-Free™. True Pain-Free, Hair-Free procedures are only possible utilizing the Alma Harmony XL Pro laser…period. At Tranquil Waters Med Spa we are proud to offer the Alma Harmony XL Pro laser for laser hair removal to patients in Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, AZ, and the surrounding areas.

It’s an effective and permanent hair reduction solution that is simple and easy. It takes cutting-edge medical laser technology and combines it with the comfort and convenience of a trip to the spa. In fact, Pain-Free, Hair-Free uses new breakthrough technology that has been described as one of the most comfortable laser hair removal options available.

Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ Decreases the Risk of Side Effects and Pain.

Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ shatters the myth of no-pain, no-gain. The system’s SHR™ technology and IN Motion™ protocol safely and gently heats the targeted area. SHR’s™ pulses of energy gradually heat the follicles in the skin’s sub-dermal layer. An additional cooling mechanism further ensures the surface of your skin stays cool and comfortable throughout your treatment.

Most people find Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ laser hair removal to be comfortable. While pain tolerance is subjective, many patients describe it as soothing and like a “hot stone massage.” Most conventional laser hair removal technologies utilize massive amounts of heat to destroy hair follicles and ensure permanent reduction. Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ SHR™, on the other hand, is a unique technology that delivers low heat levels at a fast delivery. By utilizing low heat, SHR™ decreases the pain and minimizes the risk of side effects. This is why no numbing cream is necessary. You’ve heard horror stories about burns, blistering and scaring? The SHR™ removal treatment can make them a thing of the past! Best of all, the high speed of SHR™ delivery creates a short treatment; 5 to 15 minutes on a small body part and 20 to 30 minutes on the average man’s back.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Are Required?

laser hair removal gilbert az

Several laser hair removal treatments are required at the start of hair removal therapy because of the natural growth cycle of hair. This is because each hair follicle goes through growing and resting phases, and the hair follicle is most successfully treated by light early in the growing phase. The number of active follicles and the length of the growth phase varies, and the first treatment will only damage some of the follicles. After a few weeks, previously resting hair follicles break into growth, which then needs to be treated.

The procedure can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. Treatments can be repeated at approximately monthly intervals. In this way, depending on the area after a maximum of 10 treatments, most of the hair follicles in any particular site can be successfully treated.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Try to avoid the sun for 2 weeks before your laser hair removal treatment, or use a good sunblock on the area you will be having treated. If you have gotten tan on the area, please notify your laser technician. Sunless tanning products should also be avoided.
  • Don’t pluck or wax the area for about 2 weeks before coming in for your laser hair removal treatment. The laser will only target hairs that are in the follicle.
  • Give the treatment area a good, close shave the day of the appointment and as close to the time of the appointment as possible.
  • Please don’t apply any sort of products to the area. This includes lotion, deodorant, makeup and perfume. This especially applies to deodorants because the aluminum in deodorants may prevent an effective treatment.

Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Avoid the sun between laser hair removal treatments and use a good sunblock on the areas being treated. If you have gotten tan on the area, please notify your laser technician. Sunless tanning products should also be avoided once treatments start.
  • Don’t pluck or wax the area between laser hair removal treatments. The laser will only target hairs that are in the follicle.
  • Makeup may be used after laser hair removal treatment. It is recommended to use new makeup to reduce the possibility of infection. Just make sure that you have moisturizer on under your makeup. In fact, moisturizer will help the dead hair exfoliate from the follicle, so use moisturizer frequently and freely on the treated area. Any moisturizer without alpha-hydroxy acids will work.
  • Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin.
  • Anywhere from 5-30 days after the laser hair removal treatment, shedding of the hair may occur and this may appear as new hair growth. This is not new hair growth, but dead hair pushing its way out of the follicle. You can help the hair exfoliate by washing or wiping with a washcloth.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

Who is an Ideal Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

As technology has improved, laser hair removal has become an option for just about anyone who would like smoother skin without the frequent need to shave or otherwise remove unwanted hair. Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in strands of hair that live in the follicles at the time of treatment. Therefore, the primary factors that we consider when determining if treatment will achieve the desired outcome include hair color and skin type.

In clinical use, laser devices have demonstrated excellent results on hair that is darker and coarser. The more contrast there is between hair color and skin tone, the better results may be achieved. This is because darker hair contains more melanin and lighter skin presents very little challenge to the absorption of energy within each hair.

Advances in laser devices have made it possible for practitioners to target lighter hair and darker skin tones. However, laser hair removal is not yet capable of eliminating very light or gray hair.

How Long Does it Take for Laser Hair Removal Results to Show?

Every person who undergoes laser hair removal will notice results in their own timing. The speed at which hair reduction becomes obvious may relate to a person’s unique hair growth cycle and the color and thickness of hair when treatment begins. It is possible to enjoy a dramatic difference after the very first treatment. Usually, patients notice far less hair growth after their second treatment onward.

Are There Any Risks Associated with Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is an FDA-approved method of getting rid of unwanted hair safely and comfortably. Studies have not found any risk of long-term side effects related to this treatment. The side effects that do occur are usually very mild and temporary. Risks of laser hair removal include:

  • Transient skin redness and irritation. Tissue redness may occur due to the absorption of laser energy that heats hair follicles. Because energy transfers as heat, the skin may also feel tender for several hours up to several days. This side effect can be managed with cool compresses, cool showers, and gentle skincare until irritation subsides.
  • Skin pigment may change after laser hair removal, especially in darker tones. To reduce this risk, it is beneficial to avoid tanning before laser hair removal treatment. People with naturally darker skin should use caution when choosing a provider for this method of hair removal. An experienced technician should have a good understanding of which settings are more appropriate for darker skin tones.
  • Laser energy transfers to heat beneath the skin. Therefore, it is possible that treatment may result in blisters or burns. This risk is decreased in the hands of a trained laser hair removal provider.
  • Blistering and burning can also occur after treatment if the skin is exposed to UV light. Patients should avoid tanning and tanning beds, as well as any type of artificial tanning until their series of laser treatments is complete.
  • Hair regrowth is also possible after laser hair removal. We do our best to estimate the appropriate number of treatments a person may need based on hair and skin color. However, every person is different and, on rare occasions, additional treatments may be needed to achieve lasting hair reduction.

What Areas Can Be Treated with Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal has become popular for men and women who wish to remove hair just about anywhere on the body. Common treatment areas include:

  • Underarms
  • Arms
  • Hands
  • Neck
  • Shoulders
  • Back
  • Abdomen
  • Areola
  • Chest
  • Upper lip
  • Chin and jawline
  • Between the brows
  • Bikini area, limited and extended (Brazilian)
  • Buttocks, limited and extended (anus)
  • Legs

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Laser hair removal achieves results that can last many years. Some patients enjoy permanent results from one series of treatments. However, it is possible that hair follicles will not stay dormant forever. If and when hair regrows after laser treatment, strands of hair tend to be lighter, thinner, and far fewer than they were before treatment.
